How to Relieve Allergens in St. Clair County?

Are the occupants of your St. Clair County household suffering from allergies? Are you concerned about poor indoor air quality (IAQ)?

Particulate matter (PM) is a common problem in some St. Clair County homes.

Smoke, dust and fumes contribute to a household’s indoor air quality. Bacteria, dust mites, viruses, pollen and mold represent the most prevalent biological contaminants found in the average U.S. home.

Some St. Clair County households benefit from high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filters. These air filter systems are effective at removing larger airborne particles, such as pollen, dust mites and cockroach allergens. The only drawback is that because airborne contaminants tend to settle, an HEPA does not have the capacity to capture these particles.

”In commercial buildings, an HEPA can be quite effective at filtering out mold spores, dust, pollen, and animal dander,” reveals an IAQ expert of Hoffmann Brothers Mechanical Contractors.

“To prevent pollen from entering the home, try to keep windows and doors shut to block these airborne contaminants. If your St. Clair County home uses a window unit air conditioner, be sure to check the filter often for air filter replacements.

Some contaminants settle and thrive on heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVACs) systems. These interior environments are ripe for the spread of mold, viruses and other bacteria.

During preventative maintenance of the heating and air-conditioning system, Hoffmann Brothers cleans parts (ductwork, drain pans, and/or cooling coils) of the AC system for better indoor air quality.

To terminate biological pollutants, some experts recommend ultraviolet germicidal irradiation UVGI cleaner that is used with UV lamps to eradicate biological pollutants such as mold, bacteria, and viruses could be growing on an HVAC’s parts.

If you consider an ultraviolet germicidal irradiation UVGI cleaner, note that the UV exposure is not always strong enough to defend against biological contaminants, such as mold and bacterial spores.

Remember that monthly air filter replacements are an aspect of healthy indoor air quality.

Whether you opt for an HEPA, UVGI or other type of air purification system, Hoffmann Brothers can prescribe a solution to help your family breathe easier at home.
